Scottish International Week 2019 (SIW19), organised by Scottish Business Network with the support of IoD Scotland and Bank of Scotland and returning for its 3rd year, takes place from October 22nd – 29th and will see events hosted in Inverness, Stirling, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Galashiels and London. This year’s International Week series will bring a series of internationally-renowned corporate and entrepreneurial experts together to share their experience and support with Scotland’s business leaders.

Scottish Business Network Chairman, Russell Dalgleish said: "2019 will be the third year we have celebrated Scottish international Week and promises to be the best yet. From our research, it is clear that there is significant demand for Scottish goods and services across the globe and with the support of the Scottish Diaspora Community these opportunities can now be accessed".

Colin Walls, Regional Trade Director for Scotland at Bank of Scotland said: “Bank of Scotland are delighted to be supporting Scottish International Week again in 2019. We are passionate in working with Scottish businesses to help them trade profitably and securely overseas and by adding value through sharing broad networks and free access to tools such as our International Trade Portal which is invaluable in helping research new markets and local importers.”

This year’s Scottish International Week will cover a number of themes aiming to address some of the biggest challenges Scottish plc faces when scaling and internationalising:

  • exploring a global mindset;
  • winning the first deal in a new territory;
  • maximising use of support networks both at home and in international markets, and;
  • female Business Leaders: International Insights

Event organiser and panel host Kendra Byers, Community manager at Scottish Business Network added: “This year’s line-up of events and speakers has been tailored to be of maximum benefit to participants. We have learned much in the first two years and I would encourage existing and new exporters target involved.”

“Our programme will take the format of keynotes from leading business figures, fireside chats, panel discussions and intimate seminars to give attendees the opportunities to meet with the very people who can help them on their international journey.”

Kirsty Livingstone, Head of Membership Services and Strategic Partnerships at IoD Scotland, summarised the shared goalss: “Businesses shouldn’t be restricted by UK/Scottish borders any longer. Now is the time to consider if your business could benefit from going global.”

Last month, Scottish Business Network announced the launch of the first ever global survey of attitudes to export both in Scotland and across the global diaspora. All are encouraged to participate in the survey here https://bit.ly/2ZDMGrY
